The need for privacy and a dignified approach to this stylishly remodeled home was met by a walled entry courtyard.
Inside, the soft rhythm of water moving through the fountains welcomes guests and creates a quiet ambience for alfresco dining on warm summer evenings.
Raw concrete walls, stained the color of fallen leaves, enclose the space, make a backdrop for the plantings and pick up the warm tones occurring naturally in the bluestone paving.

The lake, an eclipsed-circle fountain basin, spills into the river, a zigzag rill preconfigured to follow the joints of the paving stones in a random meander. The river drops below the surface and pops up again further on, adding a touch of mystery and acknowledging traffic patterns to and from the front door. On the wall, water sheets down over opalescent glass tiles, animating the distant corner, flowing with the river into obscurity.
