Landscape design, at its best, is an art form.

What follows is a small sample of the myriad projects designed and installed by Private Gardens Design. As in all of our work, each of these designs is suited to the context of the site, the influence of the architecture and the particular style of the client. Within you will see unique plant collections, well-crafted stone walls, artists’ works and thoughtfully realized collections of outdoor rooms - all not only designed, but also constructed by Private Gardens Design.

An award-winning design, this project features a revised woodland garden, an enclosed entry courtyard and a triptych of curved steel walls to frame and enhance a view of the San Juan Islands.

Stone walls, clipped hedges, and a fenced play area create terraces for gardening, entertaining, and enjoying bay views, all out of site in this busy Bellingham neighborhood. For this project, Private Gardens Design was presented with an international landscape design award.

An effort to bring simple elegance to this new Bellingham home, this landscape features a private, but welcoming four-season entry garden, a rear garden enclosed with a hemlock hedge , and innovations in sustainability, subtly folded into elements of strong line and form.

A fusion of Asian and North American Pacific coastal styles with a sophisticated collection of unique and native plants and archetypal structural elements to create a sense of permanence and legacy.

Strongly influenced by traditional Japanese style, this space between house and garage is reorganized into clean, level terraces with a workroom for bonsai.
